Rancher in the Mountain Meadow

I was talking to this rancher who spends every fall up in this area below Mt. Sneffels, he was talking about his experiences over the years. A lot of the talk was about a bear and her cubs running through the meadow the night before spooking the horses. I never saw the bears but I did find their tracks in a marshy area further down the hiking trail. The iconic Mt. Sneffels at 14157 feet in elevation is named for Mt. Snaefell in Journey to the Center of the Earth. The real life mountain is a small active volcano in Iceland

Curvy Curvy Autumn Aspens

Some fascinating curved Aspen trees in a secret location near Ophir. The curving is caused by motion of snow during winter on the slight slope, it is on the edge of a large avalanche chute which promotes the downward motion of the snow within these trees

Curvy Curvy Aspen Trees

The Curving Aspen trees from the above photo during the Summer. We came here for the wildflowers up against these trees but were a week or two late...Oh well, better luck next time

Road to Telluride's Airport

One of the most scenic roads leading to an airport I could ever think of. Telluride's airport has to be one of the most spectacular airports in the world. Making this an airport that would be a joy to visit

A quintessential Colorado view. Old homesteads with the massive 14,000 foot Wilson Peak many miles in the distance

Skateboarding as a Mode of Scenic Travel

Fresh snow, deep blue skies, awesome clouds swirling around some of the most spectacular mountains in the nation and the fall colors... Oh yeah, and a person riding his skateboard up a hill on the highway what more could you ask for. He had to been quite pooped out when he got to Telluride. Tis a great way to tour the region if I say so myself. The renowned and elegant Wilson Peak 14,021 feet in elevation and imposing Gladstone Peak 13,913 feet provides for the stunning backdrop. Hidden in the southwest corner of Colorado in the sublime San Juan Mountains, Wilson Peak has come to represent Colorado so thoroughly, that it now graces every can of Coors beer, not that I drink. No talk of Colorado mountains is complete without mentioning Wilson Peak.

Church on a Quiet Drive

A quiet block just on the edge of the bustling downtown area of Silverton. Yes, such a tiny town can see some crazy business during the Summer and Autumn months

The Dreams of Colorado's Past

I could only imagine the thoughts of the people who built that cabin many many years ago. Would could have inspired them to build that thing at that spot? Gee, I'll give you 3 guesses as to why. Maybe it's the hunting opportunities? Perhaps the Stunning scenery, or maybe the solitude? The Grenadiers and Needle Mountains near Molas Pass south of Silverton
